
The tradition of the Joaldunak takes place in several villages of Navarre, Spain. Joaldunak are known as the creatures who protected the cattle, as well as those who chased away bad spirits to ensure a good harvest.
Each villages has their own unique style and details for their Joaldunak costumes, however there are many consistent characteristics:
- A conical hat (0.5 meters) named Tunturro that is decorated with colourful ribbons and feathers.
A kerchief around the neck.
A top and short skirt made of sheep skim
Two cowbells around the waist.
A white skirt
A sprinkler made of horsehair held in the right hand.
