These three masks are the oldest in the village of Elovdol. Believe it or not, even with their modern cartoon-like appearance, each mask is over a century old. The villagers of Elovdol want badly to recover this style of mask making, but this master maker has passed away. Their new generation of masks is strikingly beautiful, but nothing compares to the true uniqueness of these originals. They are made of red birch, take one whole year to dry out before the maker can even begin the process of carving them, and are unimaginably heavy. The masked men peer out between the teeth.
