At Masked Traditions, our mission is to document, preserve, and celebrate the world’s ancestral cultures through the lens of visual storytelling. Founded by award-winning travel photographer Ashley Suszczynski and based in Wilmington, Delaware, our nonprofit organization is dedicated to capturing the spirit of ancient traditions as they survive and adapt in the modern world.

We believe that every culture carries a unique narrative—told through rites, rituals, symbols, and practices that span generations. Many of these customs face the risk of fading into obscurity due to globalization, displacement, and modernization. Masked Traditions seeks to raise awareness of these vulnerable cultural expressions by sharing compelling photographic essays, field research, and educational content that illuminate the deep roots and enduring relevance of these traditions.

Through community engagement, international fieldwork, and cultural partnerships, our goal is to foster cross-cultural understanding and support the continuity of heritage practices. By visually preserving the stories of lesser-known communities, we aim to inspire respect, spark dialogue, and contribute to the broader movement for cultural preservation and social acceptance. We envision a world where tradition is not only remembered but also respected, protected, and passed on.
