These protectors of the community are made from the furs of the ancient breed of Bulgarian goat. It often takes 6 to 7 goats to create one suit. The hair must be combed strand by strand, and takes approximately one month to brush through a suit until it is silky enough to wear. The style of this suit is actually more typical of the Blagoevgrad region, but the mask itself is true to the Burgas Province. Their masks are for the most part hidden behind their fur, but are beautifully beaded and embroidered in an array of vibrant colors. With each step, their fluid motion is otherworldly.
