The kukeri from Blagoevgrad 3rd Quarter are known for their tall conical masks and suits made of long silky Kalofer goat fur. It can take 6-10 goats to create just one suit. It takes 5-6 years for each goat to grow their coats to the appropriate length. Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria has one of the largest Kukeri groups in the entire country, with over 500 participants taking place each winter, chasing away evil spirits and welcoming a safe and prosperous new year.
