The Zoyacapoteros dance is originally from the municipality of Chilapa and is said to be the predecessor of the Tlacololeros dance; its name was given to it because the performers of the dance used a cape made of palm zoyate called “zoyacapote” as their costume. For some years it disappeared and was seen again in Mochitlán, little by little it is beginning to be seen again in the festivals of the central region of the state.
